Emotions

I am full of emotions lately.  There is more than likely a reason to blame for this, but I’ll address that later.

Wow – how did I not realize that raising children is an emotional rollercoaster.  There are really no other words for it.  My now 3 1/2 year old daughter came out of the bathroom a few mornings ago with her hair in pig tails.  She proudly announced that she had done her own hair.  I really just stared in awe . . . and then teared up like a baby.  R.E.A.L.L.Y!  How can my little girl be old enough, independent enough, talented enough to put her own hair in pig tails?!?  And – it was a decent job!  If my mom is reading this I am sure she is thinking back to the day that she gave her 2nd grade daughter her own curling iron and then never touched her hair again.  So I guess she gets this natually, but WHAT AN EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER!!  Pride, joy, fear, and sadness.  Sadness that my little girl is already showing me signs that she is growing up faster than I can imagine.  Can I bottle her up a little at a time so that I always have a piece of each stage??

My 1 1/2 year old is still a mommy’s girl, and I am trying to enjoy every second because my older daughter shows me how fast time flies!!  She does love to be held ( but only on her terms )!  She is one of a kind.  I truly understand how siblings can be completely different.  It is fun, but exhausting!  She has her favorite words: momma, da da, dawg, ball, bow, baby, bite, B-Y-E ( she is a true southern girl ), and a few others that we are working on.  And – I can’t leave off her favorite word: NO!  We are working on this!  She tries to get night night out sometimes also!  She is still a great sleeper!! That is such a great blessing since the older little girl around here still has issues of staying in her bed all night!  When she wants to snuggle they are the best hugs ever and she gives excellent kisses.  Madison sometimes gets a little more open mouth than she wanted and says “YUCK! That was a slobbery one!”

I am so blessed to have these two bundles of joy and every other emotion that a person can imagine.  It truly is a rollercoaster.  ( and the house will confirm this on many days )!

That all being said – the King family is about to be a family of 5!  Sometime in February the newest edition to our family will enter this world.  We are excited!!  I sometimes feel I might lose my mind, but then one of those priceless sweet moments occurs and I melt all over.  We are truly blessed!

Back Tracking

We all know I have been bad about updating.  We all know the house was finished and we moved in back in November.  However, I have not posted pics.  So, here they are.

We are enjoying the house.  We LOVE being in Roanoke!  It was worth every extra penny!  The girls love the big backyard and being so close to so many friends.  We are truly blessed.

Cutesie

I try to match the girls every once in a while and then make a magical photo shoot!  Yeah Right!  I can usually accomplish the matching part but the photos is a whole different story!  What 2 girls would want to smile at the same time? Or – what 1 year old would like their older sister to hold their hand?  Not Mine!!  Here is my latest attempt . . .

New around here

We have been busy ( and actually productive )  the last few weeks.  We took Santa’s gift ( the swingset )  and made a permanent home for it.  We ( along with the grandparents help ) dug out and “evened” the dirt, put 7 truckbeds full of mulch, and “trimmed” it in railroad ties.  We were all exhausted, but it looks really good – and it is off our grass!!

The girls love the swingset!

And – Cailey loves this new food!  So – we can finally tell the pediatrician that YES we eat lots of green!  ( fruit that is )

How do they do it?

Not really a fun day at the King house . . .

Madison has a stomach virus ( both ways )

I am sitting in the bathroom with Madison and hear Cailey behind me.  I am not really paying attention to her, but when I was done with Madison I turn around to find this . . .

Wow – how does my 14 month old climb into the bathtub BY HERSELF?  She has always been a climber!

Yes, we’re still here

I know it has been an eternity since I have posted to our blog.  What can I say – I have been trying to prioritize tasks, and spending time on the computer doesn’t rank.

So, we’ve moved into our house and are getting somewhat settled.  Still have lots of little things to do and need to unpack misc boxes.

Some of our best friends moved back to the area and I am REALLY enjoying them being around again.  They are going to be living VERY close to us.  YEAH!

The holiday came and went super fast.  Time just seems to fly by faster the older I get.  And – by the way Jeremy turned 30 a few days ago.  He totally cheated and planned for us to be on vacation.  He’ll get paid back some how I’m sure!  Madison did have lots of fun during Christmas – she was very into Santa this year.  She got a new swing set for our new back yard!!  So – I am waiting for the warmer weather to arrive.

Cailey turned ONE!  I really had a hard time with this.  I don’t remember struggling so much when Madison turned one.  I just don’t feel I have done everything right or completed all of my checklist for her first year.  However, time doesn’t stop and she ate her cake and had a blast.  She started taking steps at the beginning of February but has just now really started walking completely on her own.  She still would rather crawl at time because she is so fast.  Another post on our second child will have to come later.  SHe is one of a kind.

Madison turned 3!  She amazes me with her memory, sharpness, and ability to carry on an “adult conversation”  She gives the best hugs and melts my heart.  THEN – she is a typical 3 year old and pushes and tests my patience.  I have to admit she is like me in a lot of ways – I guess I am getting my paybacks!!

Some other friends had their 3rd baby – a GIRL!!  So, they have 2 boys and now a girl.  She is BEAUTIFUL and I can’t wait to see her grow!

We are as I type vacationing in Hawaii.  It is our first vacation to take that is 2 weeks long.  Very relaxing – and having fun watching the girls really enjoy the water!

Promise to post more often and pics to come also!

Extreme Home Makeover ?!?

I think not . . . they destroy and build a completely brand new house in ONE WEEK!  It seems it may take us ONE YEAR just to build the new house.  However, Madison has fun playing in the open walls!

It’s Official ( as of 06/23/09 )

Cailey finally rolled over.  She has been teasing us for some time now.  She would get all the way over on her side and just stay there.  I have millions of pics of her in this position because I just knew she would get all the way over.   However, as this little girl has proven in many other ways, she is going to do things when SHE is ready.  I feel we have a long road ahead of us.  She is already proving to be very head strong!!  Of course, I don’t have any idea where she would inherit a trait like that?!?!

Animals

Madison absolutely adores animals.  It really doesn’t matter what kind, big or small, she just is awed by them.  She has for a long time even referred to people by the names of their pets!  So, it makes her day ( or week, month, year ) when she goes to Pop and Nana’s, because  friends of ours that live near them have 2 Donkeys and a horse.  Next time you see her, you must ask what she feeds the donkeys!
